I'm writing to you from Chicago, where I attended a wedding last night. The bride and groom are deeply religious, and they did things according to ancient Jewish custom - like separate dancing for men and women. The tables on the women's side were decorated with pink flower arrangements, but there were none to be found for the men.
Trestle tables are all the rage right now — they're everywhere and the styles vary from petite and delicate to thick and bulky. Here are 3 very different designs available from The Conran Shop.
Did anyone see The September Issue where Grace Coddington worked her magic for the color blocking shoot? Makes me wonder, what about using this technique in the home?
There is a charming restaurant in the West Village called La Focaccia that has the most beautiful patterned tile wall. Every time I see it I dream of redoing my kitchen like this.
We are always looking for interesting ways to use unsung materials to create a new kind of WOW for the events that we design. Like the Maine Wedding I blogged about a couple of weeks ago, we recently had the opportunity to explore a very different kind of re-use for a fundraising gala for the American Friends of the Israel Museum. Held at Cipriani’s grand ballroom on 42nd Street, the evening’s theme, The Written Word, inspired us to make recycled newspaper our material hero dujour.
This gorgeous Petal Table designed for Knoll by Richard Schultz is an investment piece, but oh what a lovely table it is!
Q: I recently purchased the West Elm Slideaway desk without realizing that, at 33 inches, the main surface would be too high to comfortably type on my laptop with my current desk chair. Anyone know of a good taller or adjustable height desk chair that isn't too spendy or ugly? I think the right chair needs to be at least 23 inches high at the seat. Thanks in advance!

Dressing in layers is what gets us through these transitional seasons when it's sunny and warm one day and gray and cold the next. The layered look can serve well in the home, as well. It can provide visual interest, texture, depth, and a sense of abundance.
Item: $500 worth of custom canvas photo prints — probably enough to cover an entire wall!

This tiny 376 square feet Parisian rental apartment offers some unique tech touches that optimizes space and amenities, such as glow-in-the-dark striped wallpaper, a trolly cart Blu-ray home theater system, and a triple threat kitchen appliance which combines a cooker, oven and dishwasher all in one!
CB2 has been carving a path for itself as being affordable, hip and sophisticated, AND many of its designs lately seem drawn from other sources, where they usually cost a great deal more. Here is a short list of some nice new designs and the ones that seem to have inspired them. Design imitation is a big issue in the design community, but I'm not choosing sides, just mapping the territory.
