We love lighting up our home for the holidays but are always on the lookout for options that don't remind us of our college dorms where Christmas lights stayed up all year long. Of all the holiday lanterns we've seen this season, these offerings from Pottery Barn are definitely our favorite.
Formal ice buckets always take parties a good three steps above picking cubes out of trays with your fingers &mdash they even make three-buck Chuck glamorous. Sleek ice buckets are almost cliché, so we rounded up creative and whimsical ones for a less-serious bar.
In yesterday's house tour Michael & David's Modern Classic, readers did NOT like the IKEA bedside tables. Michael and David are looking for the perfect pieces, but the IKEA tables do the job for now. Do you have "placeholder" furniture that you'd like to replace? Take our survey below the jump.

You loved Michael Hampton's interior designs and watercolor paintings and now we're showing his North Cleveland Park house that he shares with David and their two dogs, Spencer and Renee. The older house has anachronisms that Michael and David wouldn't have chosen, but have learned to love.
Q: Please help! I've been searching for baskets like these for months to no avail. In a small apt like mine (less than 300 sq feet), too many square edges makes the room feel boxed in. These would add a perfect soft round texture to the room. Any suggestions or a push in the right direction?

We like free things. So when we heard of FreeFroot.com, where you can register and then enter giveaways for items such as Modern Twist placemats, a Le Creuset skillet and a FLOR rug, we said, sign us up. Plus, if you choose to buy anything from the site, a portion of the purchase may go to charity.
I'm sure most of us have thought it at least once while the turkey was being carved. "Wouldn't it be great if I could spend one holiday without my crazy family?" But unless you've experienced flying solo for the holidays, you might be unsure about how you would handle the usual festivities.
This Crate & Barrel Galerie bar cabinet has a little damage on the top, but for $50 it would definitely be worth trying to salvage the finish.
The moment we stumbled upon the work of metal artist Tammy Roy, we fell in love with both her unique pieces and her eco-friendly design philosophy. Roy, who describes herself as "completely obsessed with reuse", takes scrap metal from salvage yards and dumpsters and transforms it into a selection of home accessories and occasional custom pieces.
You may be planning your Thanksgiving decorations, but I'm already mapping out my Christmas glitz. Here's one of my 2009 must-haves: a mini-version of Crate & Barrel's window ornament display. It's a genius way to display treasured ornaments, especially if your tree is overburdened &mdash or, if you don't have a tree at all.
Serving Dishes are a dime a dozen now a days — every store thinks they have the next big thing. It's rare that you find a serving dish that really stands out from the rest … in a good way.
